The Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for its 24-month Internship Programme, offering 10 placements across Internal Audit, Dispute Management Services, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Information and Communication Technology, and Collective Bargaining Services.

The ELRC is a statutory council established under Section 37 of the Labour Relations Act, No. 66 of 1995, operating within the Public Education Sector to promote labour peace, resolve disputes, and support collective bargaining between the Department of Basic Education, trade unions, and educators.

Internship Opportunities

  • Internal Audit — National Diploma or Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or Risk Management (2 posts)
  • Dispute Management Services — National Diploma or Degree in Labour Relations, Labour Law, or Human Resources Management (2 posts)
  • Finance — National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or Cost and Management Accounting (2 posts)
  • Supply Chain Management — National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Procurement Management (2 posts)
  • Information and Communication Technology — National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cyber Security (1 post)
  • Collective Bargaining Services — National Diploma or Degree in Administration or Human Resources Management (1 post)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be unemployed graduates between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Hold the relevant National Diploma or Degree from a recognised institution
  • Not have previously participated in a graduate internship programme funded by a SETA or government department
  • Possess good communication, interpersonal, and computer literacy skills
  • Be willing to work at the ELRC Head Office in Centurion

Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, planning and organisational ability, analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, and professionalism, integrity, and a willingness to learn.

Duration and Stipend

The programme runs for 24 months, with successful candidates receiving a monthly stipend in line with the ETDP SETA funding guidelines and ELRC policy.
