This accelerated 3-year development programme is designed to unleash grit, define growth, and ignite purpose in the next generation of engineering leaders.

RCL FOODS is currently recruiting for two EIT streams: Instrumentation Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Both roles offer graduates a practical introduction to the company’s sugar manufacturing operations, giving trainees real ownership of business projects from the outset.

Programme Lifecycle

At the heart of the EIT Programme is authentic leadership. Over three years, graduates build a strong career foundation, starting with hands-on exposure in RCL FOODS’ sugar manufacturing plants. Trainees are expected to bring high levels of drive and initiative, remaining focused on their own development while contributing meaningfully to the wider team. Successful trainees may be required to rotate across various sites or provinces and will be expected to register as a Professional Engineer, so a willingness to relocate is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Instrumentation Engineering stream:

  • Completed studies or final-year study towards a BSc/BTech/BEng/National Higher Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering

Chemical Engineering stream:

  • Completed studies or final-year study towards a B.Engineering/B.Sc Engineering/BTech Engineering (Chemical)

For both streams:

  • Good academic results in 2nd and 3rd year majors
  • South African citizen
  • Preference given to applicants from the Nkomazi area
  • Sugar industry background preferred
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, including Excel and Word)
  • A valid South African driver’s license (preferred)
