Transnet Corporate Centre is offering final-year and recently qualified engineering students the opportunity to join its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme โ a 12-month structured pathway designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world workplace experience.
This programme gives participants hands-on training, dedicated mentorship, and direct exposure to industry-specific projects across Transnet’s operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Task Execution
- Assist with projects within a department or work-stream
- Perform routine operational tasks under supervision
- Support administrative functions, including documentation and reporting
Learning & Development
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical insight
- Engage in problem-solving activities that build analytical skills
Communication & Collaboration
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs
- Provide regular progress updates on assigned tasks
- Serve as a point of contact for queries and assistance
Research & Analysis
- Conduct market research, data collection, and analysis to support business decisions
- Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools
- Assist with process improvement initiatives
You will also be expected to follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, uphold ethical and professional standards, and maintain confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.
Who Should Apply
- Matric certificate
- B Eng Tech / National Diploma (S4โS5), with all theoretical coursework completed in one of the following disciplines: Electrical (Heavy Current), Mechanical, Industrial, or Engineering
- South African citizen
- Aged between 18 and 35
