Redpath Mining Contractors and Engineers is inviting applications from ambitious graduates to join our Head Office team in Johannesburg. We are recruiting for two Graduate: Mining Engineer positions and two Graduate: Quantity Surveyor positions, offering hands-on exposure to real mining and construction projects from day one.

Graduate: Mining Engineer (X2)
As a Graduate Mining Engineer, you will be exposed to tenders, including preliminary methodology, equipment selection, life cycle costing, labour resourcing, and production rates. You will examine blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, equipment, and labour estimates, assist with the preparation and pricing of Bills of Quantities, and help ensure all tender documents are properly stored for future reference.

Graduate: Quantity Surveyor (X2)
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will undertake cost analysis for underground mining and construction project work, track work progress, and quantify revenue while preparing payment applications and invoices. Responsibilities include supporting procurement strategy, managing project budgets, cost controls, and variance analysis, identifying and quantifying changes to contract baselines, preparing variation quotations, maintaining registers of variations, changes, and correspondence, compiling ad-hoc analysis and reports, and distributing project communication.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering (Mining Engineer role) or BSc/BTech Quantity Surveying (Quantity Surveyor role)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) – Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Projects
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Willingness to travel

  • Eagerness to learn and develop within the mining industry
