Learner Artisans X6 – Kendal Power Station (Eskom)

Eskom is offering six Learner Artisan opportunities at Kendal Power Station, Mpumalanga, in Mechanical, MC&I, Boilermaking, Welding, and Rigging trades. Open to South African citizens with Grade 12, N3, N4/N5, N6, or NCV Level 4 qualifications. Closing date: 4 September 2026.


Eskom is offering six Learner Artisan opportunities at Kendal Power Station in Mpumalanga, giving school leavers and N-level graduates a structured route into a trade career within one of South Africa’s largest energy utilities. This is a Learning Programme position at Task Grade L5, based in the Human Resources department under Kendal Power Station, and it is open to applicants nationwide as long as they meet the qualification and citizenship requirements.

Successful candidates will receive institutionalised and on-the-job training, working alongside experienced artisans and technical staff while building practical skills in trades such as Mechanical, Measurement Control and Instrumentation, Boilermaking, Welding, and Rigging. Those who complete the programme successfully may be placed within Eskom Operations across its various divisions, making this a genuine entry point into a long-term career in power generation.

Eskom is looking for candidates who are self-starters with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well in a team while showing integrity, professionalism, and a customer-focused attitude. Politeness, promptness, energy, and assertiveness are also valued, alongside a working knowledge of Eskom’s policies and procedures as the programme progresses.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:

A National N6 Certificate with Trade Subjects in Mechanical, Measurement Control and Instrumentation, Boilermaker, or Welder/Rigger

A National N4/N5 Certificate with Trade Subjects

Grade 12 with at least 50% for Maths, 50% for Physical Science, and 40% for English

N3 with at least 50% for Maths, 50% for Science, and 40% for English

NCV Level 4 with at least 50% for Maths, 50% for Science, and 40% for English

Applicants must be South African citizens. All candidates who apply will go through Eskom’s recruitment process, and successful applicants will be placed within Eskom Operations across the relevant divisions.
