Umso Construction, a civil engineering construction services company delivering infrastructure projects in partnership with the Department of Transport KZN, has launched its Contract Skills Development Goal (CSDG) Programme for 2026. This intake is open to learners within the Built Environment who reside within the Uthukela District Municipality. Applicants residing in the Alfred Duma Local Municipality will receive preference.
Successful learners will gain hands-on workplace experience and industry exposure within a live civil engineering construction environment, working alongside qualified professionals on real infrastructure delivery. A stipend will be paid in line with the CIDB Standards for Developing Skills through Infrastructure.

Umso Construction welcomes applications from graduates and TVET learners holding qualifications in the following construction and built environment disciplines:
- Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor of Engineering Technology, or Bachelor of Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering — 2 Posts
- Advanced Diploma in Quantity Surveying, or Bachelor of Construction in Quantity Surveying, or Bachelor of the Built Environment (Construction Studies), or Bachelor of Science in Construction Studies, or Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying — 1 Post
- Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Management, or Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, or Advanced Diploma in Environmental Management — 1 Post
- Civil Engineering N6 (TVET) — 2 Posts
- Administration N6 (TVET) — 1 Post
- Matric Graduate with 70% or APS 6 and above in Pure Mathematics — 1 Post
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in learning and gaining hands-on industry exposure
- Applicants must reside within the Uthukela District Municipality; those residing in the Alfred Duma Local Municipality will be advantaged
- Only applicants who hold one of the qualifications listed above will be considered
