CapeNature is calling on South African graduates with a passion for technology and technical support to apply for its IT Helpdesk Technician Graduate Internship Programme. Based in Cape Town, Western Cape, this 18-month opportunity offers three successful candidates a monthly stipend of R10 000 while they gain meaningful, hands-on experience within a professional ICT environment.

This internship sits within CapeNature’s Administration Division, under the Finance, ICT and Shared Services Business Unit — giving interns direct exposure to enterprise-level IT operations and the systems that keep a leading conservation organisation running efficiently.

About CapeNature

CapeNature is a public entity mandated with nature conservation and biodiversity management across the Western Cape. Beyond its environmental responsibilities, the organisation depends on robust digital infrastructure and reliable ICT support services to maintain operational continuity across multiple sites and departments. This internship plays a direct role in supporting that infrastructure.

What You Will Do

As a Graduate IT Helpdesk Technician Intern, you will be placed at the centre of CapeNature’s technical support operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will span a broad range of ICT functions, including:

  • Providing end-user support and resolving hardware and software issues
  • Responding to and managing helpdesk support tickets
  • Troubleshooting technical incidents, VPN issues, and connectivity challenges
  • Configuring laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Installing operating systems and enterprise applications
  • Managing user accounts, access credentials, and system permissions
  • Supporting ICT governance processes and security compliance requirements
  • Conducting device audits and assisting with information security procedures
  • Recording and maintaining ICT asset registers and inventory systems
  • Tracking software licences and managing equipment documentation

Who Should Apply

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • NQF Level 5 IT Diploma in Technical Support, IT Systems, Information Technology, or a related ICT field

  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
