Department of Human Settlements: 2026/2028 Graduate Internship Programme

The Department of Human Settlements (North West) is recruiting Graduate Interns for a 24-month programme based in Mmabatho. Open to graduates in Public Administration, IT, Finance, Built Environment, Law, HR, OHS, and more. Stipend: R8 174.75. Closing date: 19 June 2026.


The Department of Human Settlements (North West Provincial Government) is offering a 24-month Graduate Internship Programme for unemployed graduates. Based at the Head Office in Mmabatho, this programme provides hands-on workplace experience across a wide range of functional areas, with a monthly stipend of R8 174.75.

Successful candidates will be placed in one of the following internship areas, each requiring a relevant three (3) to four (4) year post-matric qualification:

  • Housing Statutory Bodies – ND/B Degree: LLB
  • Subsidy Title Deeds – ND/B Degree: Public Management/Administration or Financial Management
  • Housing Subsidy Administration Claims – ND/B Degree: Public Management/Administration or NB Degree
  • Housing Subsidy System – ND/B Degree: Public Management/Administration or NB Degree
  • Housing Needs Research, Planning and Technical – National Diploma/Degree: Built Construction
  • Research and Policy Development (Human Settlements Policy Development) – ND/B Degree: Public Administration and Management
  • Research and Policy Development (Human Settlements Research) – ND/B Degree: Public Administration/Business Management/Development Studies/Social Science/Population Studies
  • Supply Chain Management – ND/B Degree: Financial Management/Public Administration/Supply Chain Management/Logistics or Bachelor of Commerce
  • Financial Administration – ND/B Degree: Financial Management/Accounting/ND Cost Management & Accounting/Internal Auditing
  • Risk Management – ND: Internal Auditing/Risk Management or B Comm Accounting
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Development – National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree: Public Administration/Public Management
  • Human Resource Administration & Development – ND/B Degree: Human Resource Management/Public Administration or Business Administration
  • Employee Health & Wellness – National Diploma in OHS or Bachelor’s Degree: Environmental Health and Safety Management
  • Organisational Development – ND/B Degree: Management Services/Operations Management/Production Management/Industrial Psychology
  • Strategic Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation – B Administration or Diploma: Public Administration
  • ICT (Corporate Communications) – BA: Communication Studies/ND/BA: Media Studies/ND: Journalism/Public Relations
  • ICT (Graphic Design) – ND: Graphic Design
  • ICT (IT) – ND: Information Technology/BSc: Computer Science/Information Systems
  • HOD, Chief Director Corporate Services – Degree/Diploma: Public Administration/Office Management/Administrative Management
  • 4 District Posts (1 Admin & 1 Technical) – Degree/Diploma: Built Environment, Security and Risk Management, or Policing
  • Minimum Information Security Services (MISS) – Degree/National Diploma: Policing
