Eskom Seeks Chemical Technicians (x2) – Rosherville, Germiston | Closing 17 April 2026

Eskom’s RT&D division is hiring two permanent Chemical Technicians at its Rosherville, Germiston facility. Applicants must hold a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field at NQF Level 6, with P1 and P2 practical training. Closing 17 April 2026.


Eskom’s Research, Testing and Development (RT&D) division is recruiting two Chemical Technicians to join its team at the Rosherville facility in Germiston. These are permanent positions graded at T11 level, offering market-related remuneration. Applications close on 17 April 2026.

About the Role

The Chemical Technician will be responsible for providing maintenance and calibration services for chemistry online and laboratory equipment, as well as analysers across various plant systems. The role operates within Eskom’s chemistry standards and procedures, requiring the incumbent to actively monitor and control chemistry systems to ensure optimal plant performance and long-term plant health.

This is a technical, hands-on position that demands both analytical capability and a commitment to safety, quality, and professional conduct in a high-stakes energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be expected to ensure the chemical monitoring and control of chemical plants, maintain analytical and online instrumentation, and uphold a comprehensive quality control system. Additional duties include supporting long-term plant health initiatives and performing both technical and administrative functions as required by the department.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications at NQF Level 6 with 240 credits:

  • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Water Care, Water Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Biotechnology
  • National N Diploma in Engineering Studies with Chemistry, Chemical Plant Operations, and Chemical Technology

Candidates must also have completed a minimum of P1 and P2 practical training or Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), along with relevant chemical experience.

Skills and Competencies

Eskom is looking for individuals who are team-oriented, professionally grounded, and technically competent. Required skills include computer literacy, strong communication, technical report writing, planning and organising, and root cause analysis. A light motor vehicle driver’s licence is also required.

Candidates should demonstrate leadership qualities including the ability to mentor, coach, and supervise, as well as core behavioural values of integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and professionalism.

In terms of technical knowledge, applicants should have a solid understanding of chemical analysis, gas analysis authorisation, and relevant authorisation for high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) access.
