The Role
The Field Engineer Intern/Graduate position sits within the SSA Field Teams, operating under the International Managed and Support Services division and reporting to the Regional Services Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa. This is an entry-level, post-studies role crafted for individuals ready to step into a professional engineering environment for the first time.
The journey begins with radio repair and hands-on training, progressively expanding into full field services responsibilities. You will work alongside multi-disciplined project teams, supporting the deployment and maintenance of Motorola’s industry-leading digital radio communication systems across the region.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the SSA field team, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical support for project deployments, contributing to smaller projects or specific elements of larger, complex system rollouts.
- Proactively detecting and resolving design deviations in a timely and effective manner.
- Developing and executing test strategies and plans to verify that solutions meet both design specifications and customer requirements.
- Adhering to all applicable processes, maintaining accurate and thorough records at all times.
- Ensuring all systems comply with established quality and security standards.
- Managing and closing open technical issues to the full satisfaction of the customer.
- Building and maintaining an excellent working knowledge of public safety applications, solutions, and services.
- Sharing knowledge proactively and supporting colleagues to continuously strengthen the team’s collective competence.
What You’ll Need
Qualifications:
- A BSc or equivalent degree from an accredited university in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline (H.N.C or equivalent also accepted).
Skills and Knowledge:
- A solid foundation in communications solutions, applications, and system architectures.
- An understanding of Public Safety applications and solutions.
- Good communication skills, with confidence in presenting technical solutions to customers and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with complex project integration concepts, including IP, interface definition, and transmission design.
