The Intern Capability (TPM & Capability) role provides hands-on exposure to supply chain operations, Total Productive Management, and continuous improvement practices within one of the most respected beverage manufacturing environments in South Africa. The internship falls under the Supply Chain function, specifically within the Total Productive Management sub-function. TPM is a globally recognised methodology focused on maximising the efficiency and reliability of production systems. As an Intern Capability, you will work directly alongside the TPM and Capability Specialist, gaining firsthand experience in the processes that keep a major brewery running at peak performance.

Your core responsibilities will include assisting with the development, review, and updating of work instructions and standard operating procedures. You will participate in process mapping exercises and continuous improvement projects, contributing meaningfully to how the brewery identifies and resolves inefficiencies. Documentation forms a central part of the role, and you will be expected to capture, organise, and maintain both technical and operational records to the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Beyond documentation, you will support data collection, analysis, and performance reporting initiatives that feed directly into improvement tracking. This gives you valuable exposure to how data-driven decisions are made in a manufacturing context. The role also requires cross-functional collaboration, particularly with the Customer Services and Logistics teams, broadening your understanding of how different parts of a supply chain interact and depend on one another.

To be considered, candidates must be currently studying towards or must have recently completed a qualification in Engineering, with Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering being the most relevant fields. A basic understanding of engineering principles and processes is required, along with solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments are essential. A valid driver’s licence is also required.

Key competencies that Heineken will be looking for include analytical thinking, a proactive approach to problem-solving, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a genuine willingness to learn. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies will be an added advantage.
