The Graduate Internship Programme is open across a wide range of disciplines, including Mining Engineering, Business Management, Communications and Public Relations, Finance, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Environmental, Geology, Human Resources Management and Development, Industrial Psychology, Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering, Mine Surveying, Nursing, Occupational Hygiene, Quantity Surveying, Rock Engineering, Safety and Risk, Sports Science, Sustainable Development, and Mine Planning.
Successful interns will be placed on a structured 24-month training period aligned to either a Core or Support career path. Upon completion of the training period, the contract will be concluded. This programme is designed to provide graduates with the practical foundation needed to launch meaningful careers in the mining and resources sector.
To be considered, applicants must hold a Graduate or Diploma qualification at NQF Level 6 or higher. Candidates will also be required to pass a medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket) prior to placement. Preference will be given to graduates from the local community, in line with Marula’s commitment to local economic development and community upliftment.

This programme offers students the opportunity to complete their practical training requirements within a world-class mining environment, gaining real workplace experience that complements their academic studies and sets them apart upon graduation.

The Experiential Trainee Programme accommodates students studying across a broad spectrum of fields, including Business and Management Studies, Public Administration Management, Catering and Hospitality (Chef), Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Geology, Human Resources Management and Development, Industrial Psychology, Metallurgy, Mine Surveying, Mining Engineering, and Nursing.
To qualify, applicants must currently be registered with a recognised institution of higher learning and must be following a prescribed practical syllabus. Candidates must be in the process of completing their P1 and P2 modules, or working towards a Nated Diploma, in order to obtain a formal qualification. Academic achievement will form part of the screening process, and applicants will be assessed on their performance records from their institution. A valid medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket) will also be required. Preference will be given to candidates from the local community.
Marula understands that experiential trainees are still on their learning journey, and the programme is structured to support that journey fully. Successful candidates will benefit from a dedicated mentorship programme and an assigned workplace coach to guide their development throughout the placement. This ensures that every trainee receives not just practical exposure, but meaningful guidance from experienced professionals.
