Takealot Group, South Africa’s leading online retail and delivery organisation, is inviting applications for a Mechanical Engineering Intern: Site & Services based at its Johannesburg Distribution Centre. This is a rare opportunity for a recently qualified N6 engineering candidate to gain hands-on, real-world experience in one of Africa’s most dynamic e-commerce environments.

The internship is structured across all businesses within the Takealot Group — takealot.com, TFS, and Mr D — giving selected candidates unparalleled exposure to multiple operational environments under one of South Africa’s most recognised digital brands.

About the Programme

What You Will Be Doing

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern: Site & Services, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting technicians in maintaining all mechanical and electrical equipment in and around the Distribution Centre
  • Supporting inventory management of spares and tools
  • Conducting data analysis using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and SQL
  • Reporting on unsafe acts and housekeeping concerns
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain, and production
  • Applying your understanding of supply chain and production processes in a live operational setting

Qualifications & Experience:

  • N6 Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field (completed qualification required)

Skills:

  • Computer literacy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Data analysis capability (Excel, Power BI, SQL advantageous)
  • Understanding of supply chain, operations, and production processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Willingness to learn in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment
