Programme Overview
The Graduate in Training (GIT) Internship Programme is designed for graduates in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering who are looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, based at the Purem Port Elizabeth site in Deal Party, South Africa.
Responsibilities
- Assist with process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct time studies and support line balancing activities
- Participate in waste reduction and productivity improvement projects
- Support logistics engineering functions, including material flow analysis and inventory routing
- Assist with floor layout optimisation and material handling improvements
- Collect, analyse, and interpret manufacturing and logistics data
- Support the development and updating of standard operating procedures
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Academic average of 70% or higher (latest academic record must accompany application)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Passion for manufacturing, process improvement, and operational excellence
