Eskom is hiring a Technician Maintenance & Commissioning to join its Protection team in the Engineering business unit, based in Ermelo at Camden Power Station, Mpumalanga. This is a permanent, EE position offering market-related remuneration.
About the Role
The successful candidate will execute secondary plant maintenance activities and turnkey commissioning projects, working across the full project lifecycle from initial planning through to final commissioning and re-commissioning. The role sits within electrical protection systems, a critical function in keeping Eskom’s power infrastructure safe, reliable, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement maintenance and commissioning activities
- Perform operational activities related to electrical protection systems
- Coordinate maintenance and commissioning activities across teams and projects
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Skills and Competencies Required
Leadership: The role calls for a strong team player who can coach, mentor, and help develop and motivate others.
Behavioural: Eskom is looking for an energetic self-starter with high integrity, professionalism, and a customer-focused, results-driven approach.
Knowledge: Candidates should understand Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) principles as applied in an ISO-certified organisation, along with solid technical competencies in electrical engineering and hands-on experience in maintaining and commissioning electrical protection systems.
Skill: Strong problem-solving ability and good written and verbal communication are essential, along with a valid Code B driver’s licence.
Physical attributes required for this role include clear speech, good hearing, mobility, colour vision, good eyesight, and balance.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or N6 Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy or Light Current)
- No prior experience required
