About the Programme

The Cummins P1/P2 In-Service Training Programme is designed to take trainees on a structured journey — from foundational learning through to practical technical and operational competence. Embedded within the company’s Service, Engineering, and Reliability functions, the programme integrates core Mechanical and Industrial Engineering principles with hands-on application in maintenance environments.

Trainees will be exposed to both workshop and field service settings, gradually developing the skills, confidence, and independence required to make meaningful contributions to engineering operations. The programme is fully supported through formal training, on-the-job learning, mentorship, structured assessments, and logbook completion.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Applying theoretical engineering knowledge in real-world, practical environments
  • Performing maintenance tasks with growing independence and technical confidence
  • Contributing to equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and performance improvement
  • Getting involved in workflow optimisation, process efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conducting mechanical system inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Practising safe, compliant, and effective work standards aligned with health, safety, and environmental requirements
