GIBB YES Programme offers a unique opportunity for young South Africans to gain valuable work experience in the engineering sector through its Water and Integrated Infrastructure Group (WIIG) and Transportation units, specifically focusing on Electrical Engineering. This part-time learner programme is designed to support youth employment by providing meaningful workplace exposure, skills development, and a pathway to long-term career growth within a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm with a strong presence across Africa.
The YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme is a collaborative initiative between business and government aimed at reducing youth unemployment by equipping young people with the skills and experience necessary to thrive in the workforce. Through this programme, successful candidates will contribute to impactful infrastructure projects while receiving mentorship and professional development in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent with Mathematics, Science, and English. A BTech or BEng qualification in Electrical Engineering is required to apply. The programme is open to South African citizens aged between 18 and 35 years who are unemployed and available for a 12-month fixed-term contract. Priority is given to candidates who have not previously benefited from the YES Programme. Candidates must also be computer literate, demonstrate a strong desire to learn new skills related to their field, and possess qualities such as responsibility and honesty.
Applications must include a current CV, certified copies of qualifications and academic records, and a copy of the applicant’s South African ID. Only complete applications with the necessary documentation will be considered. The recruitment process will involve selection based on the above criteria, and successful candidates will be placed at GIBB’s Johannesburg office.
GIBB is committed to transformation, empowerment, and skills development in South Africa. The YES Programme aligns with these values by providing young engineers with an opportunity to develop their careers while contributing to essential infrastructure projects across the country. Disabled youth are also encouraged to apply and should mention their disability in their application.
This learner programme offers participants the chance to work alongside experienced professionals, gaining practical skills and insight into the engineering industry, which will enhance their employability after the programme’s completion. Through this initiative, GIBB seeks to nurture the next generation of engineering talent and support South Africa’s economic growth.
Interested candidates should apply before the closing date of 30 September 2025. For more information about GIBB and their projects, visit https://www.gibb.co.za.
