The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Intern to join our dynamic team at our Alberton Terminal. This internship offers an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate in Industrial Engineering to gain hands-on experience in terminal operations within the energy sector. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the efficient and safe operation of our facility while developing practical skills that will serve as a foundation for your career in logistics and operations management.
Key Responsibilities
As an Operations Intern, you will play an active role in the day-to-day management of terminal operations. Your responsibilities will include:
Operational Supervision: Monitor and control transport contractor drivers, addressing any misconduct issues such as spillages and ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
Technical Support: Perform basic troubleshooting and fault-finding on terminal equipment when minor technical problems arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Product Management: Establish appropriate storage facilities for the drain-back of returned products and investigate product losses resulting from administrative errors or loading discrepancies.
Contractor Management: Ensure that outsourced transporter staff consistently implement TotalEnergies’ operational standards, maintaining quality and efficiency across all service touchpoints.
Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSSEQ): Maintain the highest level of awareness and application of HSSEQ and security standards. Given the critical nature of terminal operations, you will help safeguard lives, protect company assets, preserve our reputation, and ensure compliance with legislative and environmental requirements.
Process Optimization: Support time management initiatives and help ensure workloads are completed efficiently, even when facing system response time challenges or downtime issues.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who possess:
Education: A degree in Industrial Engineering (essential requirement)
Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure. You should be proactive, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining high standards in all aspects of your work.
Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with contractors, colleagues, and stakeholders. Basic technical aptitude and willingness to learn about terminal equipment and systems.
Mindset: A genuine interest in the energy sector and a desire to contribute to sustainable operations while developing your professional capabilities.
