The Opportunity

We’re seeking a System Design Engineer in Training to join our dynamic engineering team in Randburg. This is an exceptional opportunity for an emerging engineer to gain hands-on experience developing cutting-edge industrial control systems while working alongside industry experts.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of innovation – designing, developing, and commissioning control system solutions that power critical industries worldwide. You’ll gain exposure to diverse technologies, collaborate across international teams, and see your work come to life on customer sites across the region.

What You’ll Do

As a System Design Engineer in Training, your days will be varied and challenging:

• Design Smart Solutions: Analyze customer requirements and architect complete control systems, from hardware specifications to software strategies
• Ensure Safety & Compliance: Develop control strategies aligned with industry safety standards and regulations
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with suppliers, panel shops, and internal engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Create Technical Excellence: Prepare specifications, project documentation, and engineering reports that set the standard
• Test & Validate: Support factory acceptance tests and customer testing activities to ensure flawless delivery
• Commission On-Site: Travel to customer locations for system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting – bringing solutions to life in real-world environments

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Mechatronic Engineering
• Exposure to industrial control systems applications
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
• Valid South African driver’s license
• Legal authorization to work in South Africa

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with Rockwell Automation hardware and software
• Project management exposure across complex customer environments
• Technical writing skills
• System integration coordination experience
