Phatsema Projects & Supplies is a mining sector company with a firm commitment to growing talent from within the communities surrounding its operations. For 2026, the company has opened three distinct opportunities targeting deserving individuals from the Mooinooi, Brits, and neighbouring communities close to Phatsema Sites. About Phatsema Projects & Supplies

Phatsema Projects & Supplies operates in the heart of South Africa’s mining sector, driving community empowerment, skills development, and economic participation. The company’s 2026 opportunities reflect its philosophy of investing in tomorrow’s mining professionals by creating structured pathways for learning, entrepreneurship, and career development.

Opportunity 1: Bursary Programme 2026

Phatsema Projects & Supplies is offering bursaries to first-year university students from selected mining communities who demonstrate both financial need and a genuine interest in the mining industry. The bursary covers tuition fees and provides work exposure opportunities with Phatsema.

Fields of study covered include Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Boilermaking and Welding, Diesel Mechanics, Geology, Mine Surveying, and other mining-related qualifications.

To qualify, applicants must be registered as first-year students at a South African university in 2026 (preference will be given to students from the University of Johannesburg), be between 18 and 35 years of age, reside in or originate from the eligible areas, demonstrate financial need, and be South African citizens. Students currently funded by NSFAS are not eligible.

Opportunity 2: New Venture Creation Learnership for the Employed (NQF Level 3 & 4)

This learnership is exclusively available to existing Phatsema employees. It is designed to equip participants with entrepreneurial and business management skills, supporting their ability to start and manage their own ventures in the future. The programme runs for 12 months.

Applicants must hold a Grade 11 or Matric Certificate or equivalent, be fluent in English, be South African citizens, and be willing to commit to the full 12-month programme duration.

Opportunity 3: New Venture Creation Learnership for the Unemployed (NQF Level 3 & 4)

Phatsema is also offering learnership places to unemployed youth from its surrounding communities. This programme targets individuals who are medically fit for a mining environment, willing to undergo screening and assessment, and who have a demonstrable interest in the mining industry. The programme also runs for 12 months.

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age, hold a Matric Certificate or equivalent, be fluent in English, be South African citizens, and be currently unemployed.

Eligible Areas — All Three Opportunities

Applicants for all three programmes must reside originally from or in one of the following areas: Mooinooi, Brits, or neighbouring communities located close to Phatsema Sites.
