About the Role
As an Engineering Intern at Kirby Group Engineering’s Cape Town office, you will be embedded within a high-performing engineering team and exposed to all aspects of project delivery — from design and planning through to on-site installation, inspections, and commissioning. This is not a passive, desk-based placement. You will be actively contributing to live projects from day one.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Supporting engineering teams across design, site, and project activities
- Assisting with technical drawings, engineering calculations, and documentation
- Gaining on-site exposure through support of installations, inspections, and commissioning processes
- Working alongside project teams on planning, progress tracking, and reporting
- Following and promoting best-in-class health and safety practices on all projects
Who Should Apply

- Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree — disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field are encouraged to apply
- A genuine interest in engineering and construction projects
- Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software is advantageous but not required
- Strong analytical thinking, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
