Rio Tinto’s Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) is inviting applications from final-year University of Technology students for its 2026 Work Integrated Learning Programme (P1/P2). This is a structured, workplace-based learning opportunity designed to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice — giving qualifying learners the real-world, on-the-job experience they need to complete their qualifications and launch meaningful careers in the mining and minerals sector.

About the Programme

The P1/P2 Work Integrated Learning Programme places learners within the dynamic operational environment of Richards Bay Minerals, one of South Africa’s leading producers of titanium minerals and zircon. Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Unemployed South African youth
  • Final-year student registered at a University of Technology
  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • National Driver’s Licence (minimum Code B)
  • Must not have previously completed Work Experience (P1/P2 or Vacation Work), whether SETA-funded or company-funded
  • P1/P2 must be a formal graduation requirement at the applicant’s institution
  • Domicile address must fall within the King Cetshwayo District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal

  • A stamped letter from the University of Technology confirming the P1/P2 requirement (minimum 12 months)
