UD Trucks is offering two 12-month fixed-term contract opportunities in Pretoria under the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme, for young South Africans looking to gain hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Applicants must meet all YES Programme eligibility requirements to be considered.

YC: Electrical Engineer

This role is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and evaluating electrical devices such as industrial machinery and transportation systems, ensuring they function safely and efficiently in line with UD Trucks requirements.

Key responsibilities include designing, fabricating, implementing, maintaining, and improving electrical equipment and systems; interpreting technical drawings; supporting the Maintenance department with renewable energy sources; investigating electrical failures; inspecting electrical installations and adjustments; implementing Total Preventive Maintenance; tracking and updating job cards; ensuring compliance with the OHS Act and environmental regulations; supporting commissioning of tools and machinery; and contributing to risk assessments, reporting, and process documentation.

Minimum qualifications: Trade Tested or NQF Level 6 in Electrical Engineering, computer literacy (Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, engineering software), strong numeracy and technical competency, self-motivation, good time management, and knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

YC: Mechanical Engineer

This role is responsible for designing, manufacturing, and evaluating mechanical devices such as industrial machinery and transportation systems, ensuring they function safely and efficiently in line with UD Trucks requirements.
