About the Learnership

This structured learnership leads to the Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Long Term Insurance at NQF Level 4 — a nationally recognised qualification that combines formal learning with practical, on-the-job workplace experience in the financial services sector.

Successful candidates will be placed within the Discovery Health GAU Service Team, gaining hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of one of South Africa’s leading medical scheme administrators.

What You Will Do

Learners will rotate through key operational areas, including:

  • Call Centre operations — medical aid client servicing
  • Claims processing and administration
  • New business administration
  • Health benefits administration

Minimum Requirements

Academic:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) — essential
  • Mathematics: minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • English: minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • Mathematics Literacy: minimum Level 5 (60%)
  • Second Language: minimum Level 4 (50%)
  • An incomplete tertiary qualification will be an added advantage

Personal Requirements:

  • Must be between 18 and 25 years of age
  • Must not be currently engaged in post-Matric studies or formal employment
  • Must not have completed a previous learnership
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must possess basic computer skills, particularly MS Excel and MS Outlook
