Valterra Platinum (formerly Anglo American Platinum) is inviting driven individuals to apply for our Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 – Unemployed). As an independent, globally listed primary producer of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), we operate across the entire value chain—from mine to market—with a commitment to operational excellence, safety, and sustainability.

This learnership offers structured off-the-job and workplace training, giving you hands-on technical experience in the mining industry. Successful completion leads to a nationally recognized Artisan qualification.

Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Matric: Passed Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), Physical Science, and English (minimum 40% pass for each). AND
  • N2 Qualification or Higher: Passed all 4 subjects, including Mathematics and Engineering Science, plus specific trade theories:
    • Boilermaker: Plating/Welders Theory & Plating Structural/Steelwork Drawings
    • Electrical: Electrical Trade Theory & Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings
    • Diesel Mechanic: Diesel/Motor Trade Theory & Engineering Drawings
    • Mechanical Fitter: Fitting Trade Theory & Engineering Drawings
    • Instrument Mechanician: Instrument Trade Theory & Industrial Electronics
    • Auto Electrician: Motor Electrical Trade Theory & Industrial Electronics
    • Millwright: Electrical & Fitting Trade Theories, Engineering Drawings or Industrial Electronics
    • Rigger: Rigger Trade Theory & Engineering Theory
    • Heavy Equipment Mechanic: Diesel/Motor Trade Theory & Engineering Drawings
  • NCV Level 4: In an appropriate trade with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%.
