Tharisa Minerals is offering an exciting Graduate In Training (GIT) Programme — a structured, two-year contract opportunity designed to bridge the gap between academic achievement and professional practice in one of South Africa’s leading platinum group metals and chrome operations.

About the Programme

Tharisa Minerals understands that the transition from campus to career can be challenging. That is why the GIT Programme was created — to give recently graduated individuals meaningful exposure to a real working environment while developing the technical and business competencies that the mining industry demands. Over the course of the programme, participants will be immersed in their field of expertise, gaining hands-on experience alongside seasoned professionals in a dynamic, fast-paced mining setting.

This is not a passive learning experience. GIT participants are embedded within operational teams, contributing to real projects and building a professional foundation that will serve them throughout their careers.

Tharisa Minerals is recruiting graduates in the following fields for the 2026 intake:

  • Mechanical Engineering (Ref: GIT26-MCE)
  • Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering (Ref: GIT26-M/CE)
  • Employee Relations / Human Resources (Ref: GIT26-ER)
  • Information Technology (Ref: GIT26-IT)

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Tharisa Minerals GIT Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the qualifying disciplines listed above
  • Recent graduate status — candidates must have no prior formal work experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office proficiency)
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and collaborate within a team environment
  • The ability to work in a mining or industrial environment
  • Must be medically fit to meet the inherent requirements of the role

Important Notes

  • Only South African citizens are eligible to apply
  • Preference will be given to applicants from local communities and labour-sending areas in the North West Province
