PRASA’s Graduate in Training Programme is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. As a graduate trainee, you will be embedded within one of PRASA’s operational departments, gaining hands-on exposure to industry-relevant systems, processes, and environments. The programme is structured to accelerate your transition into the workforce while building the technical and professional competencies that employers in the rail and infrastructure sector demand.

PRASA operates across multiple regions in South Africa, meaning placements are available in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape, and at PRASA Group Capital in Braamfontein.

- Financial Accounting, Auditing, Cost and Management Accounting
- Electrical Engineering (HC) / Energy Management
The minimum qualification required varies by discipline and region — ranging from a National Diploma and B-Tech to a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field. Matric with a trade certificate is accepted for certain infrastructure roles.
What You Will Do
Duties vary by department but typically include assisting with daily operations and administrative functions, conducting research on assigned topics, working closely with teams on live projects, using relevant tools, software, and systems, and applying industry knowledge in a structured professional setting. Graduates are expected to maintain professionalism in all communications, seek continuous feedback, and demonstrate initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.

No prior work experience is required. What matters is your qualification, your attitude, and your drive. PRASA values professionalism, accountability, adaptability, attention to safety, and a willingness to grow. Technical and problem-solving skills are an advantage, as is competency in MS Office and communication.
