Are you an N6 TVET College graduate or a recent university graduate looking to gain hands-on practical experience in your field? Hessequa Municipality invites applications for its National Diploma and Graduate Internship Programme — a structured opportunity designed to bridge the gap between academic training and the world of work.
This internship programme is open across multiple disciplines, making it one of the more versatile municipal internship offerings currently available in the Western Cape. Whether your background is in engineering, administration, or people management, there is a place for you here.
Fields of Study Accepted
Hessequa Municipality is recruiting interns in the following disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Office Management
- Human Resources
- Tourism
Both N6 TVET College certificate holders and graduates from accredited South African universities are eligible to apply. N6 students require practical experience to complete their National Diploma, and this programme provides exactly that structured environment.
Stipend and Duration
The internship period ranges from 3 to 18 months, depending on the discipline and the requirements of the municipality. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of:
- R4 000 per month for N6 students
- R6 500 per month for graduate students
These are paid internship positions — a meaningful distinction in a landscape where unpaid placements remain all too common.
Where You Will Be Based
Workplaces are located across the Hessequa Region, with placements in Heidelberg, Riversdale, Albertinia, or Stilbaai, depending on your discipline and the operational needs of the municipality. Candidates who already reside within the Hessequa Region will receive preference during the selection process.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is suited to motivated young South Africans who have completed their N6 qualification at a TVET College and need a workplace component to finalise their National Diploma, or recent graduates from South African universities who want structured, government-sector work experience in their field of study.
Hessequa Municipality is an equal opportunity employer. People with disabilities and candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply.
