The agency is dedicated to promoting the peaceful use of space while advancing South Africa’s capabilities in space science, technology, and engineering. SANSA fosters research, innovation, and industrial development across the national and international space sector — and it needs motivated young talent to help drive that mission forward.

The Opportunity

This 12-month internship programme is structured to give recent graduates hands-on exposure to real ICT environments through mentoring, coaching, and project participation. Interns will rotate across a range of ICT functions, building both technical and professional skills that are highly valued in today’s job market.

Areas of learning and development include:

• Technical Support & ICT Operations – Assisting with end-user support and maintaining ICT infrastructure and systems.
• Information Systems & Data Management – Gaining exposure to business applications and supporting data management processes.
• Cybersecurity & ICT Governance – Learning about cybersecurity awareness, compliance frameworks, and information security practices.
• Software Development & System Support – Participating in application development, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Research & Innovation – Conducting research on emerging technologies relevant to SANSA’s digital transformation agenda.
• Project & Administrative Support – Contributing to ICT projects and recommending improvements to service delivery.

Beyond technical skills, interns will develop competencies in communication, teamwork, critical thinking, customer service, and professional workplace conduct.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

• Be a South African citizen
• Be 35 years of age or younger at the time of application
• Hold a three-year tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in an ICT-related field
• Not have previously participated in an internship programme
• Be able to commute to the Pretoria office daily

Candidates with prior exposure to software development will have an added advantage.
