This Graduate Internship is your gateway into a structured, mentorship-driven engineering design career. You will be embedded within the design department, working alongside experienced engineers to deliver engineering designs and solutions tailored to specific customer requirements and specifications. Every project you contribute to will expose you to the full product development lifecycle — from initial concept through to manufacturing release.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Mechanical Design Graduate Intern at Jendamark Automation, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Gaining hands-on exposure to ECR (Engineering Change Request) designs and detailing for small fixtures and tools
- Participating in the design and detailing of small special-purpose machine applications
- Working with senior engineers to establish the most effective design solution to meet customer specifications
- Assisting in component specification for procurement purposes
- Engaging continuously with Assembly and Commissioning teams throughout project phases
- Developing design release packages for manufacturing under mentorship
- Contributing to design delivery within a controlled budget environment
- Performing basic stress, force, and accuracy calculations as well as Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Complying with Jendamark’s ISO procedures and quality standards
- Actively identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing suggestions to reduce engineering costs
What Jendamark Is Looking For
Qualifications & Licensing:
- N. Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a Mechatronics Degree
- Valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence
Language Requirements:
- English — speak, read, and write (essential)
- Afrikaans — speak, read, and write (essential)
- German — advantageous
Skills & Attributes:
- Basic hand sketching skills and understanding of concept development
- Basic machine calculations and FEA exposure
- Familiarity with material specification and manufacturing processes
- Good time management and the ability to work within a team environment
- Self-driven, with the ability to use initiative and contribute meaningfully to a high-performance team
