Joining their mine closure team means contributing to work that shapes how the mining industry manages its environmental obligations and legacy impacts.
What You Will Do
As a Mine Closure Intern, you will support the closure team across a range of technical and project-related responsibilities. These include assisting in the development of mine closure strategies, plans, policies, and procedures, as well as conducting gap analyses of clients’ existing closure frameworks and preparing detailed reports on findings.
You will provide support to the team in advising clients on the practical implementation of closure plans, and contribute to project administration to ensure deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will also participate in developing project plans that guide decommissioning and rehabilitation activities in consultation with clients.
On the technical side, you will assist in calculating mine closure costs that comply with regulatory requirements and support cost management across different phases of mining projects. You will participate in audits and reviews of closure plans and liability assessments, and help evaluate and monitor these plans throughout the mine life cycle. The role also involves contributing to the development of alternative closure measures aimed at remediating the environmental impacts of mine development.
Beyond the technical work, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to business development and marketing initiatives within the mine closure team.
