Glencore’s Rhovan Mine in Brits, North West, is offering a Workplace Experience Program for students who have completed the theoretical component of their qualification and now need practical, workplace-based experience to graduate. This opportunity is run in partnership with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) and is designed to give students hands-on exposure in their chosen discipline at Rhovan PSV.
This program is ideal for final-stage students who have completed their S4 theory component and are ready to fulfil the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) requirements needed to complete their qualification.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Enter a work-integrated learning program in partnership with the MQA, gaining practical experience in their qualification discipline at Rhovan PSV
- Work in accordance with safe work practices at all times
- Comply fully with the company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) system
- Support the implementation of management decisions, legal requirements, and company standards and policies
Qualifying Disciplines
Applicants must be studying towards a degree in one of the following fields:
- Metallurgy
- Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Geology
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Currently studying towards a degree in one of the disciplines listed above
- Must have completed the S4 theory component of the qualification at a tertiary institution, requiring only the practical workplace experience component to graduate
- Must be in possession of a completion letter from the tertiary institution confirming that the applicant meets the WIL requirements
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Must be medically fit
- Results-driven, accountable, and able to work well within a team environment
