Are you a business or science graduate wondering what your next move should be? PEP, South Africa’s largest single-brand retailer, is opening its doors to graduates who want a real, hands-on introduction to retail planning.
This 18-month programme isn’t classroom theory. You’ll be embedded in the Planning team, learning the mechanics of how a national retailer keeps its stores stocked, its sales forecasts accurate, and its customers happy — all while building a foundation for a long-term career in retail.
What you’ll be exposed to
On the planning side, you’ll get to grips with replenishment products, forecasting methodologies and systems, and the full retail buying and planning cycle. You’ll help determine sales forecasts in consultation with planning and buying teams, understand how forecasts affect stock management, and contribute to department sales plans ahead of budget sessions. You’ll also monitor stock distribution to stores, keep an eye on DC service levels, analyse product and store performance, and get out into stores to review performance, manage exceptions, and lead in-season trading sessions aimed at optimising sales.
On the operational side, you’ll work closely with planners to allocate stock across fashion and replenishment lines, manage DC stock and odds, resolve store orders and enquiries, and allocate stock to new stores as they open. You’ll handle customer stock queries, update activity records, action COSTIs, assist with IBTs, and pick up ad hoc tasks like collating information and following up on quality checks.
By the end of the programme, you’ll have a genuine understanding of how planning and replenishment drive one of the country’s biggest retail operations — and the experience to back it up.

- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics, or Business Management
- 65% average
- South African citizen
- 18–33 years old
- 0–1 year working experience
- Willingness to travel
- Driver’s licence advantageous
- Intermediate computer skills (Google Suite or Microsoft Office, Google Sheets or Excel)
