The Role

EDF Power Solutions is recruiting a Renewable Energy Graduate to join its Engineering Centre of Excellence (ECoE), based in Cape Town on a hybrid basis. Working alongside experienced engineers and supported by a global network of technical experts, the successful candidate will contribute to project development, energy yield assessments, energy modelling, and early-stage design across wind, solar, and BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Renewable Energy Graduate will support development teams on environmental approvals, site selection, and project sizing, and will participate in site visits and field activities across Southern Africa. Responsibilities also include assisting with the technical assessment of wind and solar resource data, supporting prospecting activities for new renewable energy sites, and contributing to wind and solar data monitoring campaigns.

On the design and feasibility side, the graduate will assist with preliminary layout designs for renewable energy facilities and contribute to feasibility assessments and technical risk analyses. The role further involves data management and analysis, support with BESS and energy modelling, and the preparation of presentations and modelling summaries. Bid preparation and contract documentation support will also form part of the portfolio.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, or a related degree, with zero to one year of professional experience — making this an ideal first step for recent graduates. A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel are required.

Competencies

EDF Power Solutions is looking for someone with a strong appetite for learning and a genuine interest in renewable energy engineering. Skills in coding, CAD design, data analysis, and advanced Excel will be advantageous, as will proficiency across the MS365 suite. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving instincts, clear written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
