What You Will Do
As a graduate on this programme, you will rotate across key areas of the Transaction Banking business, including Payments, Trade Finance, and Investor Services. You will work directly with clients and internal teams, developing a deep understanding of how financial infrastructure supports economic activity across Africa. You will also gain exposure to how technology and data are transforming the Transaction Banking landscape — from real-time payments to AI-driven client solutions.

The Programme
The Standard Bank CIB Technology Graduate Programme is a 12-month accelerator built for technically talented graduates who aspire to become thought leaders and trusted advisors in financial technology. The programme combines rigorous theoretical learning with hands-on practical experience, supported by structured rotations across the full CIB Technology business lifecycle.
You will gain exposure to application and technology architecture processes including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment. You will also develop operational expertise through direct involvement in the maintenance and support of live production environments — giving you a complete picture of how enterprise technology functions at the highest levels of a global financial institution.
Technologies You Will Work With
Standard Bank utilises a sophisticated and diverse technology stack to maintain its competitive edge. As a graduate, you will gain practical exposure to technologies including Java, Python, Angular, Go, C, C#, C++, Salesforce, Murex, Calypso, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, and SQL databases including Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, and MongoDB. You will also work with Matlab, GIT, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence, as well as AWS and Microsoft enterprise tools such as Power Automate and Copilot — tools that are becoming increasingly central as the CIB Technology ecosystem continues to evolve.
