Who Should Apply?
This bursary is open to South African citizens who are currently enrolled in their final undergraduate year at an accredited South African institution of higher learning. Applicants must be Historically Disadvantaged Persons and/or from an underprivileged background.

- Marketing or any sales-related qualification

Selection Criteria
Candidates are evaluated on the basis of financial need and academic potential. The minimum academic requirement is a 70% aggregate in the most recent examinations. All qualifying applications will be reviewed, with final shortlisting and selection taking place in August 2026.
Please note that meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee selection. Only a select few candidates will be awarded this bursary, and the final decision rests entirely at Wilmar SA’s discretion.
What You Will Need to Submit
To complete your application, please have the following documents ready:
- Certified copy of your South African ID
- Full academic record including 2026 Semester 1 results
- Grade 12 results / NSC certificate
- A recent head-and-shoulders photograph
- Proof of income for both parents or guardians (e.g. payslips)
You will also be required to complete a motivational essay addressing the following subheadings:
- Personal and Family Background
- Achievements and Leadership Positions
- Strengths and Weaknesses
- Career Plans
- How your chosen career relates to your interests, talents, and current study programme
In addition, you will need to write a brief personal statement to headline your application — a concise summary that captures who you are and why you deserve this opportunity.
Family Financial Information
Applicants will be asked to provide details of combined gross annual family income, parental employment status, and the number of dependants supported by the household income. This information is used solely to assess financial need and is handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
