The Pietermaritzburg Quarry is proud to announce an Internship Opportunity for the 2026–2027 intake, offering unemployed graduates a structured twelve (12) month experiential training programme designed to equip participants with the practical, hands-on experience needed to enter the job market with confidence and credibility.

About the Programme

This internship is more than just work exposure — it is a deliberate investment in your future. Selected interns will be embedded within the Construction Materials Pietermaritzburg Team, gaining real industry experience in a dynamic quarry and materials production environment. You will work alongside seasoned professionals, build technical competencies, and develop the professional conduct that employers across Southern Africa demand.

The programme runs for a period of twelve months and is structured to align theoretical qualifications with practical workplace application.

Who Should Apply?

AfriSam is looking for unemployed youth who hold a Diploma or Degree qualification in any of the following fields of study:

  • Safety and/or Environmental Management
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

To be considered, applicants must demonstrate an excellent academic track record, with a minimum average of 60% in their academic results, as well as strong behavioural standards and a professional attitude.

In line with AfriSam’s transformation policies, first preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) and women from Umsunduzi Municipality.
